Account Linking Partner

For account linking we partner with Plaid, a financial technology leader with stellar security credentials. You can review Plaid’s security credentials here.

When linking accounts, we never send your credentials to your browser, and we do not store your credentials ourselves. Plaid uses industry-leading security practices to ensure that your accounts stay safe.

Fidelity

Account linking does not work with Fidelity Investments if you have two factor authentication enabled, and we do not recommend permanently disabling your two factor authentication.

You may wish to temporarily disable MFA for your Fidelity accounts to link with Plaid, then turn it back on once the account is linked.

You can learn more about how to link, manage and unlink your financial accounts with the NewRetirement Planner in this video.

On September 7, 2022 we officially implemented a new service with Plaid. What does this mean?

- If you have an account linked with a healthy connection, you should be seeing daily account balance updates
- If not, please try unlinking and relinking the account to establish a new healthy connection
- There still may be Two Factor Authentication (2FA) limitations with certain institutions, over which we we do not have control, and we do not recommend turning off 2FA in order to link accounts. The most common of these is Fidelity.

Linking a New Account

When you create an account, you have the ability to link to your financial institution through our partner Plaid. When you link an account, it brings in your current account balance. Bear in mind that this method does not capture cost basis, allocation, or transactions, and you will need to make those entries yourself to ensure that your plan is accurate.

If you'd like to link your accounts, please follow these instructions:

Step 1: Press "Add an account +"

Step 2: Choose the account type

Step 3: Choose "Connect & Monitor"

Step 4: Link to your financial institution

Linked Account Not Functional

If you successfully linked to an institution and don't see your accounts, you likely did not complete linking directly to a specific account. Here is how to connect the account:

Step 1: Click on the gray link icon or "Add an account +"

Step 2: Then, click on the institution name

Step 3: Finally, select an account

 4. Repeat this process for every account you wish to link.
